Copper Blood Test
Trace the metal behind fatigue, nerve and liver health.
The Copper Blood Test measures the amount of copper circulating in your bloodstream. Copper is an essential trace mineral that supports iron metabolism, energy production, connective tissue formation, nerve function and antioxidant defence. This test is useful for anyone experiencing unexplained fatigue, anaemia that does not respond to iron, neurological symptoms such as numbness or tingling, or liver-related concerns. It is also requested when monitoring known copper metabolism disorders, nutritional deficiency, or suspected excess from supplementation or occupational exposure.
Copper is measured in a simple blood sample using a validated laboratory method. Results are interpreted alongside your clinical history and other investigations by your doctor.
Why it matters
Copper sits at the centre of several critical enzyme systems. Too little can impair iron use, weaken connective tissue and disturb nerve function, while too much can accumulate in the liver, brain and other organs. Measuring copper gives your clinician a clear view of whether your levels are balanced, helping to guide further investigation and appropriate management.

No special preparation required.
For blood tests, we recommend drinking plenty of water beforehand to ensure smooth sample collection. If you are taking any regular medication, continue to do so unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
Important Clinical Information:
This test is a screening tool to monitor and support your overall health. It does not replace your GP or Consultant.
Always discuss your test results, especially any abnormal results, with your GP, who can interpret them in the context of your medical history and overall health.
