Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea PCR Test (Chlamydia trachomatis / Neisseria gonorrhoeae)

This test uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect the genetic material of Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the bacteria responsible for two of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the UK. It is suitable for anyone who is sexually active and wants to check their sexual health, particularly if they have symptoms such as unusual discharge, pain during urination, or pelvic discomfort, or if they have had unprotected sex with a new or casual partner. It is also recommended for individuals who are asymptomatic but wish to screen for these infections, as many cases show no obvious signs.

The test is performed on a simple urine sample or a swab, depending on your sex and clinical guidance. PCR is highly sensitive and specific, meaning it can detect even low levels of bacterial DNA, providing reliable results.
