Elevated or reduced TSH levels can indicate an underactive or overactive thyroid, respectively. Thyroxine (T4): T4 is the primary hormone produced by the thyroid gland. It plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism. The test measures the total level of T4 in the blood. Free Thyroxine (fT4): fT4 is the form of T4 that is unbound and is biologically active form in the bloodstream. High levels of fT4 can be a sign of hyperthyroidism. Low levels of fT4 can be a sign of hypothyroidism. Triiodothyronine (T3): T3 is one of the thyroid hormones that play a crucial role in regulating metabolism, growth, and development in the body. Abnormal levels of T3 can indicate thyroid disorders, such as hypothyroidism (low levels) or hyperthyroidism (high levels) Free Triiodothyronine (fT3): fT3 is the form of T3 hormone that is the most active. High levels of fT3 can be a sign of hyperthyroidism. Low levels of fT3 can be a sign of hypothyroidism.
