These tests help evaluate the pancreas's ability to produce and release digestive enzymes and hormones, as well as assess the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Amylase (AMY): Measures the level of amylase, an enzyme produced by the pancreas, in the blood. Elevated levels of amylase may indicate pancreatitis or other pancreatic disorders. Glucose (GLU): Measures the level of glucose, a sugar molecule that serves as a primary energy source for the body. Abnormal glucose levels may indicate pancreatic endocrine disorders, such as diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance. Elevated triglyceride levels can be associated with certain pancreatic conditions or indicate problems with fat metabolism.
