These tests help evaluate the pancreas's ability to produce and release digestive enzymes and hormones, as well as assess the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Amylase (AMY): Measures the level of amylase, an enzyme produced by the pancreas, in the blood. Elevated levels of amylase may indicate pancreatitis or other pancreatic disorders. Glucose (GLU): Measures the level of glucose, a sugar molecule that serves as a primary energy source for the body. Abnormal glucose levels may indicate pancreatic endocrine disorders, such as diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance. Lipase (LPS): Measures the level of lipase, an enzyme produced by the pancreas that aids in fat digestion. Elevated levels of lipase can be indicative of pancreatitis or other pancreatic diseases. Serum Triglycerides (TG): Measures the level of triglycerides, a type of fat molecule, in the blood. Elevated triglyceride levels can be associated with certain pancreatic conditions or indicate problems with fat metabolism. Total Protein (TP): Measures the total amount of proteins in the blood, including pancreatic enzymes and other proteins produced by the pancreas. Abnormal protein levels may suggest pancreatic dysfunction or other underlying conditions.
