NK cell cytotoxicity & Intralipid inhib.
Intralipid inhibition of NK cell cytotoxicity weakens the immune system ability to fight infection
Service Description
NK cell cytotoxicity assay test is used to measure the ability of natural killer (NK) cells to kill target cells. NK cells are a type of immune cell that play an important role in recognizing and destroying abnormal or infected cells, including tumour cells. Intralipid inhibition is a variation of the NK cell cytotoxicity assay that involves adding intralipid, a type of fat emulsion, to the assay to test for the presence of anti-NK cell antibodies. Anti-NK cell antibodies are antibodies that bind to and inhibit the activity of NK cells, and they have been implicated in certain types of infertility and pregnancy loss. Intralipid can help to neutralize these antibodies and restore NK cell activity in the assay. Both the NK cell cytotoxicity assay and the intralipid inhibition assay are valuable tools in the diagnosis and treatment of immune-related conditions, such as cancer, autoimmune diseases, and reproductive disorders.
