Lp-PLA2 (PLAC) Test
Sensitive test for artery health
Service Description
Biomarker: LP-PLA2 Sample: BLOOD Results: 2 HRS Phlebotomy fee: £0 LP-PLA2 is involved in the breakdown of fats, and it can also contribute to the formation of plaque which accumulates on your artery walls. As the plaque hardens over time, the arteries become narrow, leading to restricted blood flow that can damage the organs and stop them functioning properly. Lp-PLA2 levels are affected by a number of factors, including genetics, diet, and smoking. High levels of Lp-PLA2 are associated with an increased risk of heart disease and stroke. Elevated levels of LP-PLA2 have been associated with : --Chest pain or discomfort (angina): This may manifest as a squeezing, pressure, or heaviness in the chest. --Shortness of breath: Difficulty breathing or a feeling of breathlessness, particularly with exertion or during physical activity. -- Fatigue: Persistent lack of energy or feeling excessively tired even with minimal exertion. -- Palpitations: Sensations of irregular, rapid, or pounding heartbeat. -- Dizziness or light-headedness: Feeling faint or experiencing a sensation of spinning or instability. -- Leg pain or cramping: Discomfort or pain in the legs, typically during physical activity, which may improve with rest. PLACK blood test can help to identify any plaque build-up so that you can take the necessary early steps to avoid the associated cardiovascular disease.
