FSH: Stimulates sperm production. Low levels may indicate testicular dysfunction. LH: Stimulates testosterone production. Low levels may indicate pituitary gland issues. T: The primary male sex hormone, vital for sperm production and sexual function. Low levels can impair both. PRL: Primarily involved in milk production in women, but elevated levels in men can affect sperm production. E2: Plays a role in sperm production, maturation and function. SHBG: Carries sex hormones in the blood. Abnormalities can affect free testosterone levels. Other Tests: Semen analysis: Evaluates sperm quality and quantity, the most crucial test for assessing fertility potential. SEMEN SAMPLE COLLECTION Semen collection and handling has significant effect on the results. Ideally, the sample should be produced at the clinic. Semen produced at home should reach us within 45 minutes, and kept in the pocket close to the body to protect it from extreme external temperatures. Steps to follow: -1. CONTAINER Must use one of our sterilised containers pre-labelled with your details. -2. BEFORE SAMPLE Abstain from sex or ejaculation between 2 to 5 days prior to the sample collection. This is because it takes approximately two days for the semen to return to normal after ejaculation, and the semen will begin to deteriorate again is more than five days elapse without ejaculation. -3. SAMPLE COLLECTION a. Wash your hands and genitals with soap and water and dry thoroughly. c. Do not use a condom or lubricant jellies. d. Produce the sample by masturbation, ensuring that the whole ejaculate into the sterile container. e. If sample cannot be obtained by step (d.) above, a special clinical condom will be provided which can be used with vaginal intercourse. f. Seal the container immediately after collection with the lid and do not use adhesive tape. For clinical condoms, please use the twist to tightly close the top of the condom and placed it into the container. g. It is essential that only ONE sample is collected for a valid test results.
