It identifies whether an individual has been exposed to HIV and has developed an immune response to the virus. There are no symptoms of HIV infection in the early stages. However, as the virus progresses, people with HIV may experience symptoms such as: 1. Flu-like symptoms: These symptoms may include fever, fatigue, sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes. 2. Persistent generalized lymphadenopathy: This is a condition in which the lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, and groin are enlarged. 3. Weight loss: People with HIV may experience unexplained weight loss. 4. Diarrhoea: People with HIV may experience chronic diarrhoea. 5. Skin rashes: People with HIV may develop skin rashes.
