Service Description

Biomarker: fPSA Sample: BLOOD Results: 2 HRS Phlebotomy fee: £10 fPSA test measures the amount of free PSA in the blood. PSA is a protein that is produced by the prostate gland. High levels of PSA can be a sign of prostate cancer, but they can also be caused by other conditions, such as prostatitis or an enlarged prostate. A high level of fPSA is more likely to be caused by prostate cancer than a high level of total PSA. Symptoms of prostate cancer can vary depending on the stage of the cancer. Early-stage prostate cancer may not cause any symptoms. However, as the cancer progresses, men may experience the following symptoms: -- Frequent urination, weak stream, or difficulty starting to urinate -- Painful urination -- Blood in the urine or semen -- Erectile dysfunction It is important to note that fPSA test alone is not a definitive diagnostic tool for prostate cancer. Further diagnostic tests, such as a prostate biopsy, may be necessary to confirm the presence of cancer.
