These pathogens can also be transmitted through other bodily fluids, such as semen and vaginal fluids, but they are more likely to be transmitted through blood. Depending on the infection, it can take weeks before it is detectable in the bloodstream and may therefore have to wait before testing to reduce the risk of a false negative. Hepatitis B Antibody (ANTI-HBS): The ANTI-HBS test detects the presence and the level of the hepatitis B antibodies in the blood stream. Presence of antibodies is a marker for past exposure or current infection. Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBSAG): The HBsAg test detects the presence and the level of the hepatitis B surface antigen in the blood stream. Presence of the antigen can indicate an acute or a chronic infection. Hepatitis C Antibody (ANTI-HCV): Hepatitis C is another viral infection that can cause inflammation of the liver. It is more difficult to transmit than hepatitis B, but it can still be transmitted through contact with infected blood. The test measures the presence and the level of HCV antibodies in the bloodstream. Presence of the antibodies indicates either a past exposure or current infection. HIV Antibody (ANTI-HIV): HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. It can be transmitted through contact with infected blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. The test detects the presence and measures the level of HIV antibodies in the bloodstream. Syphilis Antibody (ANTI-TP): Syphilis is a bacterial infection that can be transmitted through contact with infected sores. It can also be transmitted through contact with infected blood, but this is less common. The test detects the presence and measure the level of Syphilis antibodies in the bloodstream. CODE: GT
