Biomarker: ASO Sample: BLOOD Results: 2 HRS Phlebotomy fee: £10.00 The ASO test measures the amount of antibodies to streptolysin O (SLO) in the blood. These antibodies are produced by the immune system in response to an infection by the bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes, which is responsible for a variety of infections, including strep throat and skin infections. ASO test is most useful for diagnosing conditions that are caused by post-streptococcal infection, such as: -- Rheumatic fever -- Acute glomerulonephritis -- PANDAS (paediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcus)
