These markers can be used to assess a person's drinking habits and risk of alcohol-related health problems. The Urine Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) marker in this test is a metabolite of ethanol, the type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages. When one consumes alcohol, the body metabolises it into various byproducts, including EtG. EtG can be detected in urine for a longer period than alcohol itself, making it a useful marker for recent alcohol consumption. It can detect alcohol consumption within the past 80 hours or so, depending on factors like the amount of alcohol consumed and individual metabolism.
